It’s October, it’s Friday the 13th, and you know what that means: It’s prime hunting season for Jason Voorhees! The hockey masked lunatic has been running roughshod on campers for nearly 30 years now, leaving a body count that dwarfs every other horror movie slasher. This Friday 13, Jason is no doubt lurking the grounds of Camp Crystal Lake, just in time for Halloween. The horror never stops and the gore keeps pouring whenever Jason’s on the loose. That’s why we created our guide on how to kill Jason Voorhees. From the first Friday 13th to Jason X, the Friday the 13th movie reboot and beyond, Jason Voorhees is one of the toughest slasher killers in movie history. Jason is a pretty scary dude, and zombie jason doubly so. But unless your name is Tommy Jarvis, you’re gonna need our help to kill Jason Voorhees.

You can start with the first of many of Jason’s deaths: Drowning. With makeup from Tom Savini, Jason Voorhees was definitely a weird-looking kid, and everyone assumed he drowned in the first F13 movie. That’s why his mom Pamela Voorhees went on a revenge fueled rampage. But Jason survived, and in the second Friday the 13th film he’s back with a vengeance. We saw the first appearance of the Jason hockey mask in Friday the 13th Part 3, which added the final touch to Jason’s kills. Corey Feldman, as Tommy Jarvis, chopped his head in half with a machete, and a Jason copycat named Roy took over for Friday the 13th Part 5: The New Beginning. Friday the 13th Part 6: Jason Lives was the first appearance of Zombie Jason, and now that he’s fully undead, he’s even harder to kill. Jason faced off against a telekinetic girl named Tina in Friday the 13th Part 7: The New Blood, and he was swept away into the East River in Friday the 13th Part 8: Jason Takes Manhattan. In Jason Goes to Hell, we learn that Jason has to power to possess people after the FBI blows him away, but thanks to a magic dagger he was sent to Hell along with Freddy Krueger. Jason wins their big showdown in Freddy vs. Jason, but the creepy killer came back to life in the future for Jason X, where he evolved into Uber Jason. That’s the last we saw of him until the remake, but that doesn’t mean you’re safe. Jason Voorhees is out there, in the woods, waiting to strike.
