About the YouTube Engagement Rate Calculator
Engagement rate shows how many viewers did more than watch: it is the likes and comments (plus shares, if you know them) divided by views. Paste a video to use its real numbers, or a channel to average its latest 50 uploads, then compare the result with typical YouTube benchmarks.
How to use it
- 1 Paste a YouTube video link, a channel link or an @handle, and press Check Engagement. Or skip this and type numbers from YouTube Studio.
- 2 Adjust the views, likes and comments, and add shares or subscribers if you have them.
- 3 Read the engagement rate and its rating, plus the like rate, comment rate and engagement by subscribers.
Frequently asked questions
How do you calculate YouTube engagement rate?
Add the likes, comments and shares, divide by the views, and multiply by 100. For example, 400 likes + 50 comments on 10,000 views is 4.5%. Some brands divide by subscribers instead; the calculator shows both.
What is a good engagement rate on YouTube?
As a rule of thumb, under 1% is low, 1–3% is average, 3–6% is good and over 6% is excellent. Smaller channels and loyal niche audiences usually score higher than large channels or viral videos.
Why does a channel’s rate differ from a single video?
The channel figure adds up the likes and comments of its latest uploads and divides by their total views, so a few big videos weigh more than small ones. Single videos vary a lot around it.
Where do I find shares?
Shares are not public. Open the video in YouTube Studio → Analytics → Engagement (or Advanced mode) to see them.
