Implantation Calculator
Find when implantation is most likely, when implantation bleeding may show, and the earliest day to take a pregnancy test.
Date it from
Ovulation is a luteal phase before your next period. Leave it at 14 unless you have tracked yours.
Fresh and frozen transfers (FET) are timed the same way.

Implantation timing from Wilcox et al., New England Journal of Medicine, 1999. Every pregnancy is different; a test or your doctor can confirm.
About the Implantation Calculator
The implantation calculator estimates when a fertilised egg attaches to the lining of your uterus. Enter the first day of your last period, your ovulation date, or your IVF transfer date to see the implantation window, the most likely days, when implantation bleeding may happen, and the earliest day a pregnancy test can turn positive. It also shows how many days past ovulation (DPO) you are today.
How to use it
- 1 Choose how to date it: last period, ovulation date, or IVF embryo transfer.
- 2 Enter the date, plus your cycle length or the embryo’s age at transfer.
- 3 Read your implantation window and the three most likely days.
- 4 Follow the day-by-day DPO timeline to see when to take a test.
Frequently asked questions
When does implantation happen?
Between 6 and 12 days after ovulation. In a large study of natural pregnancies (Wilcox, 1999), most embryos implanted 8 to 10 days after ovulation, so about 22 to 24 days after the first day of the last period in a 28-day cycle.
What is implantation bleeding?
Light pink or brown spotting that some people notice around the time of implantation, roughly 10 to 14 days after conception. It is lighter and shorter than a period, usually a day or two, and many people never have it. Heavy bleeding or bleeding with pain should be checked by a doctor.
How soon after implantation can I take a pregnancy test?
The pregnancy hormone hCG is made once the embryo implants and takes a few days to reach a level a home test can detect. A sensitive test may show a faint line from about 11 days past ovulation, but a test on the day your period is due is far more reliable.
When does implantation happen after IVF transfer?
A day 5 blastocyst usually starts to implant 1 to 3 days after transfer, and a day 3 embryo a few days later, as it first has to grow into a blastocyst. Clinics usually book the blood test (beta hCG) 9 to 11 days after a day 5 transfer. Frozen embryo transfers follow the same timing.
What are the signs of implantation?
Many people feel nothing. Some notice light spotting, mild cramps, tender breasts, or a dip in basal body temperature, but these are also common before a period, so only a pregnancy test can tell you.
What does DPO mean?
Days past ovulation. 1 DPO is the day after ovulation. People trying to conceive count DPO because implantation and test timing follow ovulation, not the cycle day.
