About the Crypto Calculator
The crypto calculator covers the sums crypto holders do most: profit or loss on a trade with fees, the average buy price over many buys (dollar-cost averaging), sats to bitcoin and money, Ethereum gas fees, and staking rewards. Today’s daily price for 35 coins is filled in, in your own currency, and you can type over any price.

Frequently asked questions
How do I calculate crypto profit?
Coins bought = money invested ÷ buy price. Profit = coins × sell price − money invested. If you invest 1,000 USD at 50,000 USD per BTC, you get 0.02 BTC. Selling at 60,000 USD gives 1,200 USD, a 200 USD (20%) profit, before fees.
What is the break-even price?
The sell price at which you get back exactly what you invested, after the buy and sell fees. Selling above it is a profit; selling below it is a loss.
How is the average buy price worked out?
Divide the total money spent by the total coins bought. Buying 500 USD at 40,000 and 500 USD at 60,000 gets you 0.02083 BTC for 1,000 USD, an average of 48,000 USD per BTC, not 50,000, because the cheaper buy got you more coins.
How many sats are in a bitcoin?
100,000,000. One satoshi (sat) is 0.00000001 BTC, so 100,000 sats is 0.001 BTC.
How is an Ethereum gas fee calculated?
Fee in ETH = gas used × gas price in gwei ÷ 1,000,000,000. A simple ETH transfer uses 21,000 gas, so at 2 gwei it costs 0.000042 ETH.
What is the difference between APR and APY in staking?
APR is the yearly reward rate without compounding. APY includes the extra you earn when rewards are added back to your stake. At 4% APR with daily compounding the APY is about 4.08%.
Are the crypto prices live?
No. They are daily reference prices from the same open data set as the currency converter. Crypto prices move all day, so check your exchange before you trade. Nothing here is financial advice.
