ChatGPT Table to Excel & CSV

Paste an answer from ChatGPT, Claude, Gemini, or Copilot. Every table in it becomes a real spreadsheet: numbers stay numbers, the header stays bold, and nothing leaves your browser.

Tip: use the copy button under the answer, or select the table on the page and copy it. Markdown tables, CSV blocks, and ASCII grids all work.

Options

For safety, CSV cells that start with =, +, -, or @ get a leading ' so Excel cannot run them as formulas. Need the opposite? Convert JSON to CSV or clean the rest of the answer.

About the ChatGPT Table to Excel & CSV

Pasting a ChatGPT table straight into Excel often lands everything in one column, full of | and ** marks, with prices stored as text that will not add up. Paste the answer here instead. Every table in it is found, cleaned of Markdown and citation marks, and turned into an Excel workbook with real numbers, a bold header, and filters, or into a CSV for any other app.

How to use it

  1. 1 In ChatGPT, Claude, or Gemini, click the copy button under the answer, or select the table and copy it.
  2. 2 Paste it here. Each table found appears as a tab with a preview.
  3. 3 Download the Excel file, download a CSV, or copy the table and paste it into Excel or Google Sheets.

Frequently asked questions

How do I copy a table from ChatGPT to Excel?

Click the copy button under ChatGPT's answer and paste it into this tool, then press Excel (.xlsx). The copy button gives Markdown, which Excel cannot split into columns by itself; the tool does that for you. You can also use Copy for Excel / Sheets and paste into any cell.

Why does the pasted table end up in one column?

ChatGPT, Claude, and Gemini write tables in Markdown, with a | between columns. Excel and Google Sheets treat that as plain text, so each row lands in a single cell. Converting it first gives you one value per cell.

Are numbers kept as numbers?

Yes. Values such as 1,200, $9.99, 15%, (300), and 2027-01-15 become real numbers and dates in the Excel file, with matching formatting, so SUM, sorting, and charts work. Codes with leading zeros, phone numbers, and long IDs stay as text so no digits are lost.

What if the answer has more than one table?

Every table is found. The Excel file puts each one on its own sheet, named after the heading above it. CSV and Copy use the table you have selected.

Does it work with Claude, Gemini, and Copilot?

Yes. It reads Markdown tables from any chatbot, CSV and TSV code blocks, ASCII grid tables such as MySQL results, and tables copied from a web page.

Why do accents look wrong when I open the CSV in Excel?

Excel guesses the text encoding of a CSV and often guesses wrong. Keep the "accents and non-Latin text" option on: it marks the file as UTF-8 so Excel reads it correctly. If your Excel uses commas for decimals, choose the semicolon separator, or download the .xlsx file, which has no such problems.

Is my data uploaded?

No. The tables are read and the files are built in your browser, so nothing you paste leaves your device.
