Minesweeper
Play Minesweeper free online, from beginner to expert. Every board can be cleared without guessing, and a hint explains the next safe square. Your game is saved as you play.
Numbers that prove it are outlined in blue, the squares in amber.
Boom! That was a mine.
This board never needs a guess, so a hint could have found a safe square.

About the Minesweeper
Open every square that has no mine under it. Each number tells you how many mines touch that square, including diagonally, so you can work out where the mines are and flag them. Unlike classic Minesweeper, every board here can be cleared by logic alone: the game opens a safe area to start, and you never reach a 50/50 guess. Stuck? A hint shows the next safe square or mine and explains which numbers prove it. Your game is saved in this browser, so you can close the tab and carry on later.
How to use it
- 1 Pick a level. The board opens a safe area for you to start from.
- 2 Click (or tap) a square to open it. Right-click, long-press, or switch on flag mode to mark a mine.
- 3 Click a number whose mines are all flagged to open every square around it at once.
- 4 Open every safe square to win. Best times are kept per level, without hints or undos.
Frequently asked questions
How do you play Minesweeper?
Each open square shows how many of the eight squares around it hide a mine. A blank square has none, so its neighbours open by themselves. Use the numbers to work out which covered squares are safe and which are mines, flag the mines, and open everything else. Opening a mine ends the game.
What does “no guessing” mean?
Every board is checked before you see it: starting from the opening area, all the safe squares can be found by logic, without ever needing a lucky guess. If you feel you must guess, there is a clue you haven’t spotted yet. Press Hint to see it.
What is chording?
Clicking an open number when the right number of flags already touch it. Every other covered square around it opens at once. It is the fastest way to play, but a wrong flag will set off a mine, so flag carefully.
How do I flag a mine on a phone?
Long-press a square, or tap the flag button to switch to flag mode, so each tap places or removes a flag. Tap the button again to go back to opening squares. On expert, the board turns upright to fit a phone screen.
What are the board sizes?
Beginner is 9×9 with 10 mines, intermediate 16×16 with 40 mines, and expert 30×16 with 99 mines. These are the standard sizes, so your times compare with other Minesweeper games.
Is the daily Minesweeper the same for everyone?
Yes. Each day has three boards, one per level, and everyone gets the same ones, so you can compare times with friends. A new set starts at midnight on your device.
