Video Toolkit
Trim a video, compress it to a smaller MP4, turn a moment into a GIF, or pull the sound out as MP3. It all runs in your browser, so there is no upload, no file size limit to pay for and no watermark, and your video never leaves your device.
The first video downloads a free video engine (ffmpeg, about 31 MB) that your browser then keeps for next time.
Private by design
The video is processed on your own computer or phone. Nothing is uploaded, so it’s safe for family videos, work recordings and anything personal.
Four tools, one page
Trim, compress, make a GIF or save MP3, then keep going: send the trimmed clip straight to Compress or GIF without downloading it first.
Free, no watermark
No sign-up, no credits and no logo stamped on your video. Download the result at full quality.
Type the start and end times below.
Re-encoding runs on your device. Expect it to take about as long as the video plays, or longer on phones and older computers.
Result
Next: add captions with the Subtitle Editor, a transcript with Speech to Text, or record a new video with the Screen Recorder.
Trim
Compress
Saves an H.264 MP4 that plays on phones, WhatsApp, YouTube and PowerPoint, so this also converts MOV, WebM, MKV or AVI to MP4.
GIF
Pick a short part above: 2 to 10 seconds makes a GIF that shares easily. Smaller width and fewer fps make a smaller file.
MP3
Saves the video’s sound as an MP3 for music players, podcasts and ringtones. Use the part above to save only a song or a quote.
About the Video Toolkit
Video Toolkit puts four everyday video jobs on one page. Trim cuts out the part you need, in seconds and at full quality, or frame-exact as MP4. Compress makes a video smaller by quality or to a target size such as 10 MB for Discord or 25 MB for email, and turns MOV, WebM, MKV or AVI into MP4. Video to GIF loops a short moment, and Extract MP3 saves just the sound. Everything runs inside your browser with ffmpeg, the same engine professional apps use, so your video is never uploaded and there is no watermark or sign-up.
How to use it
- 1 Pick Trim, Compress, Video to GIF or Extract MP3, then drop in a video from your phone or computer.
- 2 Drag the handles, or type a start and end time, to choose the part of the video, and set the options on the right.
- 3 Press the button, wait for it to finish on your device, and download the result. Use “Keep editing this result” to compress or GIF a trimmed clip.
Frequently asked questions
Is my video uploaded to a server?
No. The video engine (ffmpeg compiled to WebAssembly) is downloaded once to your browser and runs on your own device, so your video never leaves it. Only your settings, such as the GIF width, are remembered in this browser.
Is there a file size limit?
There is no limit set by us, and nothing to pay. Very large videos (several GB) can run out of browser memory; if that happens, use Trim with Fast cut first, which needs the least memory, then compress the shorter clip.
How do I compress a video for Discord or email?
Choose Compress, switch to “To a file size” and pick Discord (10 MB) or Email (25 MB), or type any size you need, for example a website’s upload limit. For long videos also pick 720p or 480p so the picture stays sharp at that size.
Why does compressing take a while?
Re-encoding a video is heavy work, and here your own device does it instead of a server. Expect roughly the length of the video on a recent computer, and longer on phones. Fast cut in Trim needs no re-encoding and finishes in seconds.
What is the difference between Fast cut and Exact cut?
Fast cut copies the video without re-encoding, so it is instant and keeps the original quality and format, but the start can move back to the nearest keyframe, usually less than a few seconds. Exact cut re-encodes to MP4 so it starts and ends on the exact frame.
How do I convert MOV, WebM or MKV to MP4?
Choose Compress and keep Size and Frame rate on Keep with High quality. The result is an H.264 MP4 that plays on iPhone, Android, WhatsApp, YouTube and PowerPoint.
How do I make a GIF from a video?
Choose Video to GIF, select 2 to 10 seconds with the handles or start and end times, pick a width and smoothness, and press Make GIF. A smaller width and fewer frames per second give a smaller file for chats and websites.
Can I get the audio from a video as MP3?
Yes. Choose Extract MP3, optionally select only the part you want, such as one song, pick a quality and save. 192 kbps suits most uses; choose 320 kbps for music.
Does it work on phones?
Yes, in recent Chrome, Safari and Firefox on Android and iPhone. Phones are slower at compressing and have less memory, so trim long videos first or choose a smaller size.
