Frequently Asked Questions
What's the difference between seconds and milliseconds?
Unix timestamps are in seconds (10 digits), while JavaScript uses milliseconds (13 digits). Just multiply seconds by 1000 to get milliseconds. Most modern APIs use seconds.
What timezone is the current time in?
The "Current Time" shows your local timezone from your browser. The "UTC" time is Universal Coordinated Time (same everywhere). Both update in real-time.
When does the timestamp overflow?
32-bit timestamps overflow in 2038 (around January 19). Most systems now use 64-bit, good until year 292,277,026,596 - so you're safe for a while!
How do I convert timestamps in Excel or Google Sheets?
In Excel: =(A1/86400)+25569 (for seconds). In Google Sheets: =(A1/86400)+25569. Note: Excel uses 1900 base, Unix uses 1970. Our tool handles all this automatically!
