Reaction Time Test
Wait for the panel to turn green, then tap as fast as you can. Five tries, and your result is the middle one (the median), so one lucky or slow tap doesn’t decide it.

About the Reaction Time Test
Test how fast you react. Wait for the panel to turn green, then tap, click or press Space. You get five tries, and your result is the median, the middle time, so one lucky guess or one slow moment doesn’t decide it. Tap too soon and that try starts again. The choice mode shows a circle on the left or the right and you tap that side, which measures how quickly you decide as well as react. Results are kept in your browser so you can see how sleep, coffee or time of day change your speed.
How to use it
- 1 Pick simple or choice mode.
- 2 Tap the panel to start a try, then wait. Don’t guess.
- 3 When it turns green (or the circle appears), tap as fast as you can.
- 4 After five good tries, see your median time and score.
Frequently asked questions
What is a good reaction time?
On a phone or a mouse, most adults get a median of about 220 to 300 milliseconds. Under 200 ms is very quick. Lab equipment measures faster times, because screens, touch panels and browsers add a few tens of milliseconds of their own.
Why is my result the median and not the average?
The median is the middle of your five times, so one slow try (you blinked) or one lucky early tap doesn’t pull your result up or down. It is what reaction time studies usually report.
What is choice reaction time?
The time to react when you must also decide: here, whether the circle is on the left or the right. It is usually about 100 milliseconds slower than simple reaction time.
Why do I get “too soon”?
You tapped before the panel turned green, or within 100 ms of it, which is faster than anyone can truly react. The wait changes randomly between 1.5 and 4 seconds so you can’t time it.
Is my device making me slower?
It can. Screens refresh 60 or more times a second and touch screens add their own delay, so compare results on the same device. A wired mouse and a fast screen give the most accurate times.
