How much tax do I pay on €74,000?

A single person pays €16,800 income tax, €1,950.62 USC and €3,135.75 PRSI, which is 29.6% of the salary.

How much tax do I pay on €45,000 in Ireland?

A single person earning €45,000 in 2026 pays €5,200 income tax (€9,200 at 20% and 40%, less €4,000 of personal and employee tax credits), €882.82 USC and €1,906.88 PRSI. That leaves €37,010.30 a year, or about €3,084 a month.

What are the Irish tax bands for 2026?

Income tax is 20% on the first €44,000 for a single person (€48,000 for a single parent, €53,000 for a married couple with one income) and 40% above. The personal and employee (PAYE) tax credits are €2,000 each, and they come off the tax.

What are the USC rates for 2026?

USC is 0.5% on the first €12,012, 2% up to €28,700, 3% up to €70,044 and 8% above. You pay no USC at all if your total income is €13,000 or less.

How much PRSI do I pay?

Employees pay Class A PRSI of 4.2% on all their pay, rising to 4.35% from 1 October 2026, with no ceiling. You pay none if you earn €352 a week or less, and a PRSI credit of up to €12 a week reduces it on pay up to €424 a week.

Do pension contributions reduce my tax?

Yes. Contributions to an occupational pension or PRSA get relief at your highest income tax rate, so they come off your pay before income tax. You still pay USC and PRSI on them. The relief has an age-related limit, from 15% of pay under 30 up to 40% at 60 and over.

Is this exactly what my payslip will show?

It is close for one job paid evenly through the year with the standard tax credits. Revenue spreads your credits and bands over the year, so a bonus, a second job, benefits in kind or extra credits (such as rent or medical expenses) change it. Married couples with two incomes can have a larger 20% band, which this calculator does not cover.
