About the Currency Converter

The currency converter changes an amount from one currency to another at today’s mid-market rate, the rate halfway between what banks buy and sell at. Each pair, such as US dollars to taka or riyals to rupees, has its own page with conversion tables and the last 30 days of rates. Rates are updated once a day.

How to use it

  1. 1 Type the amount you want to convert.
  2. 2 Pick the currency you have and the currency you want. Use the ⇄ button to swap them.
  3. 3 Read the converted amount and the rate. Open the pair’s page for tables and the 30-day history, or copy the share link.

Frequently asked questions

Where do the exchange rates come from?

From a free, open data set that collects daily mid-market rates from public sources. The rates are updated once a day, and the page shows the date of the rates it uses.

Why is my bank or exchange house rate different?

Banks, exchange houses, and money transfer apps add a margin to the mid-market rate, and some charge a fee on top. The rate here is a fair reference point: compare it with the rate you are offered to see how much the margin costs you.

Is this the official Bangladesh Bank or RBI rate?

Not exactly. Central banks publish their own reference rates, and the rate banks pay for remittances can differ, sometimes with a government incentive on top. Use this converter as a guide and check your bank for the rate you will actually get.

How do I convert an amount by hand?

Multiply the amount by the rate. If 1 USD = 122 BDT, then 250 USD × 122 = 30,500 BDT. To go the other way, divide: 30,500 BDT ÷ 122 = 250 USD.

How often are the rates updated?

Once a day. For trading or large transfers, where the rate moves during the day, check a live quote from your bank or broker.

Can I share a conversion?

Yes. After you type an amount, press “Copy share link”. The link opens the same pair with the same amount, converted at the latest rate on the day it is opened.
