About the Spin the Wheel

Spin the wheel picks one entry at random, with the same chance for each. The winner is drawn with your browser’s secure random number generator before the wheel moves, and the wheel then turns to land on it, so the animation never decides the result. Your list is saved in your browser.

How to use it

  1. 1 Type or paste your entries, one per line.
  2. 2 Press Spin, or tap the wheel.
  3. 3 Remove the winner to draw again without them, or tick “Remove the winner after each spin”.
  4. 4 Copy the share link to send the same wheel to someone else.

Frequently asked questions

Is the wheel really random?

Yes. Each spin uses crypto.getRandomValues, the browser’s secure random number generator, with no bias towards any slice. Every entry has the same chance, whatever its position on the wheel or how many times it has won.

How do I pick a winner for a giveaway?

Paste the names or usernames of everyone who entered, one per line, and spin. For several winners, keep “Remove the winner after each spin” ticked so nobody wins twice. Record your screen if you want to show the draw.

Can I make one entry more likely to win?

Add it more than once. An entry on two lines gets two slices, so twice the chance of an entry on one line.

How many entries can the wheel hold?

Up to 200. Past 120 slices the labels are too small to read on the wheel, so only the colours show, but the winner is still shown in large text.

Is my list saved?

Yes, in your browser only, separately for each ready-made wheel. Nothing is sent to our server unless you copy a share link, which puts the entries in the link itself.

How do I split people into random teams?

Open the random team generator, paste the names, and choose the number of teams or the people per team. Team sizes never differ by more than one, and you can shuffle again until you are happy.
