Assumes the rate stays the same. When interest compounds less often than monthly, each month earns the matching share of the period’s interest. DPS and FDR: instalments go in at the start of each month; source tax is 10% of the interest with proof of a filed return and 15% without; excise duty comes off once a year on the year’s highest balance, free up to Tk 4,00,000. Banks round and credit interest in their own ways, and renewed FDRs earn the rate of the renewal day. Rules last checked 26 October 2026 against the Finance Act 2026. About the Compound Interest Calculator

The compound interest calculator shows what your savings grow to when interest earns interest. Start with a lump sum, add a deposit every month, and compound daily, monthly, quarterly, half-yearly or yearly in your own currency. It also has a DPS calculator and an FDR calculator for Bangladesh banks that take off the 10% or 15% source tax and the yearly excise duty, so you see the money you actually take home.

How to use it

  1. 1 Pick Compound, DPS or FDR.
  2. 2 Enter the starting amount and monthly deposit, the DPS instalment, or the FDR amount.
  3. 3 Enter the yearly interest rate, how often it compounds or the FDR term, and how long you keep it.
  4. 4 Read the balance, the interest and the year-by-year table, and copy the share link if you need it.

Frequently asked questions

How is FDR interest calculated in Bangladesh?

Interest for a term is the amount × the yearly rate × the months ÷ 12. Tk 5,00,000 at 10% for 12 months earns Tk 50,000. The bank deducts 10% source tax (Tk 5,000) if you have proof of a filed return, or 15% (Tk 7,500) if not, plus Tk 500 excise duty because the balance passes Tk 5 lakh once the interest is added, so you keep Tk 44,500.

What happens when my FDR renews?

With auto-renewal the bank starts a new term on the maturity date, usually at its rate on that day. If the interest is added, the new term earns interest on it too, which is how a 3-month FDR compounds four times a year. Rates change, so the result after the first term is an estimate.

Is a 3-month or a 12-month FDR better?

At the same rate, a 3-month FDR that renews with its interest earns slightly more than a 12-month one, because the interest compounds every quarter. Banks often pay a different rate for each term, so compare the results with each bank’s real rates.

What is a monthly profit FDR?

Some banks pay the interest on a fixed deposit into your savings account every month instead of at maturity. Choose “Paid out every month” to see the monthly income after source tax.

How much source tax is cut from FDR interest?

10% of the interest if you give the bank proof of submission of your tax return (PSR), and 15% if you do not. The tax is cut when the interest is credited, and you can claim it against your income tax.

How up to date are the tax and excise rates?

They were last checked in October 2026 against the Income Tax Act 2023 and the Finance Act 2026, which raised the excise-free balance to Tk 4,00,000 from 1 July 2026. Both can change in each June budget.
