“The thirst is gone, the veins are moist, and the reward is certain, if Allah wills.” (Abu Dawud 2357)

The intention (niyyah) for a fast is made in the heart before Fajr; it does not need set words.

Calculation settings Islamic Foundation Bangladesh · Asr Hanafi

Sehri ends at Fajr (18° below the horizon, Islamic Foundation Bangladesh) and Iftar is at sunset. As in the Islamic Foundation’s timetable, Sehri ends about half a minute early and Iftar is a minute and a quarter after sunset, so the times match the Ramadan Calendar.

About the Sehri & Iftar Time Today

Sehri & Iftar Time gives the time Sehri ends and Iftar begins today, for any fast on any day of the year, not only in Ramadan. It counts down to the next one, lists the next 30 days with their Hijri dates, and marks the Sunnah fasts coming up: Mondays and Thursdays, the white days (13th to 15th of each Hijri month), Ashura, the day of Arafah and the six days of Shawwal, as well as the Eid days when fasting is not allowed.

How to use it

  2. 2 Read today’s Sehri end and Iftar time and the countdown.
  3. 3 Check the coming Sunnah fasts and the 30-day table to plan your fasts.

Frequently asked questions

When does Sehri end?

Sehri ends at the start of Fajr, when the first light of dawn appears. In Bangladesh that is when the sun is 18° below the horizon, and the Islamic Foundation ends Sehri about half a minute earlier as a safety margin, which this page follows.

When is Iftar?

Iftar is at sunset, the start of Maghrib. In Bangladesh the Islamic Foundation adds a little over a minute after sunset to be sure the sun has set across the district.

Which days are Sunnah to fast?

Mondays and Thursdays; the white days, the 13th, 14th and 15th of every Hijri month; the day of Arafah (9 Dhul Hijjah); Ashura (10 Muharram, with the 9th or 11th); six days in Shawwal after Eid; and the first days of Dhul Hijjah. The page marks each one in the 30-day table.

On which days is fasting not allowed?

On Eid ul-Fitr (1 Shawwal), Eid ul-Adha (10 Dhul Hijjah) and the three days after it (11 to 13 Dhul Hijjah, the days of Tashreeq). They are marked “Eid – no fasting”.

Are the Hijri dates exact?

They follow the calculated calendar (a day after Saudi Arabia in Bangladesh) and can move by a day once the moon is sighted, so check the official announcement for Ramadan, Eid and Arafah.

Is this the same as the Ramadan Calendar?

In Bangladesh the times are worked out the same way and match the Ramadan Calendar to the minute. This page covers every day of the year; the Ramadan Calendar shows the whole month of Ramadan with Shab-e-Qadr and Eid.
